My Commitment
to You
It can be intimidating to commit to getting coached, so I want to address some common concerns you might have along with my commitment to you.
Potential concern: I have tried this before, and it was not for me
My Commitment: I am not like other coaches, and you will recognize the difference during our first encounter. I have studied conventional practices, and I have chosen to apply only the aspects that I feel are most appropriate for busy physician executives.
Potential concern: I’m not very good at asking for help or being vulnerable
My Commitment: I will never try to be your therapist, life coach, spiritual advisor, or best friend. To help you at work, I do not need to probe into your deepest secrets. We may cover sensitive areas, but I will ask your permission before probing into issues about which you might be concerned.
Potential concern: I can do this on my own
My Commitment: People do not know what they do not know. If you try coaching, within the first couple of sessions, you will recognize significant assumptions that you did not realize you were making. If this is not your experience when working with me, you can and should terminate the relationship.
Potential concern: I don’t want my organization to know everything
My Commitment: My coaching conversations are always confidential. If the coaching is sponsored by your organization, I may need to reveal that we are indeed having coaching sessions, and in my opinion, the sessions are worth continuing. I won't let them know what we discussed without your explicit permission.
Potential concern: I am not sure if Michael Brown is the right coach for me
My Commitment: For qualified candidates, I offer two coaching sessions free of charge with no obligation or expectation. After those two sessions, you can confirm if my coaching is right for you, and you can act accordingly.
